What with the multitude of diversions available to us right now, 'tis the season for canasta (for those who are interested).
As soon as the dishes are cleared, the cards come out and the teams are chosen.
Chris and I tag-team to share Dexter duty, so we all get a chance to play and Dexter doesn't crawl onto the table.
With my yoga excursion tonight, Aunt Julia joined in Dexter's Puzzle Party...'helping' him to complete a record number of puzzles and keep him entertained.
The kid is a puzzle MANIAC! Chris can be found darkening the aisles of the local shopping emporiums looking for challenging treats to come home.
Another rockin' night on the farm. :)

The Blizzard of 2010
Woke up today to a quieter and darker than usual morning...the white stuff had been falling all night. And it kept on going until supper time. There seemed to be a slight respite in the evening, but with complete darkness outside now, it's hard to tell what's going on.
Until such time as it stops, it's agreed that the snowmobile is the primary mode of transportation. Can't be bothered to snowplow the driveway until it stops and we don't need to go anywhere anyhow.
Although, I am considering the 4 or 5 km trek the 'corner store' (at a nearby resort/golf course community) for more red wine. Making due with white...for now. The snowmobile could make it. Nothing like a lovely ride in the ditch to get the juices going.
We managed a trip out to water the cattle this morning, the three of us on the ski-doo. Watching Dexter stagger through and fall in the snow, I realized why it seemed like there was so much snow when I was a kid. Because there was! Ankle deep on us is calf-deep for the kid and it's hard enough to stagger around in a snow suit in the best of conditions. Tomorrow, he may just have to tunnel his way around. :)

Inaugurating the Big Screen
In honour of our imminent confinement on a wintery Saskatchewan farm, Chris has finally had one lifetime dream come true...a 50" plasma screen TV, PS3, media centre...and a few other things that rocked our credit card.
Since our shipment arrived four days ago, Chris has been lost in a blur of cabling and hardware. Several frenzied trips into town, a smoking credit card, the heartbreak of the first TV being damaged and the drama of not knowing if we'd get a replacement have all culminated of a newly minted Man Cave aka our living room.
And truthfully...I like it too.
So, we threw open the doors to our neighbours to enjoy the Greycup game tonight. A magnificent canvas to watch the sporting drama unfold for a group of the best fans in the world...Roughrider fans.
And they lost.
Because they can't count.
But the TV was great!
